George Anson Collection
George Anson was professor emeritus of music composition at Texas Wesleyan from 1941 to 1970. Anson received his Bachelor of Music from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1932 and his Master of Music Composition at the University of Arizona in 1937. After teaching at the University of Oklahoma, he made his way to Fort Worth and became the Department Head for Piano and Associate Professor of Piano and Theory at Texas Wesleyan. Anson did a special piano study with Rudolph Ganz and a special study of composition under Arthur Olaf Andersen. Anson also wrote music reviews for the Clavier magazine. Copies of these magazines can be found on the 2nd floor of the library in periodicals.
The collection includes music compositions, manuscripts of Clavier music reviews, workshop files, book publication materials, and published music scores.
