Harold G. Jeffcoat served as the 18th President of Texas Wesleyan University from 2000-2011. His inauguration was held on September 28 2001 and Steven C. Beering gave the inaugural address. Beering was the President Emeritus at Purdue University.
He received his Bachelors and Masters of Arts degrees from University of South Florida. He received his Doctor of Education from the University of Kentucky in 1994 and Master of Laws degree from the University of Leicester in 2000. Jeffcoat's career in higher education included serving as a faculty member Baker University, the Honors College at the University of Missouri, and founding director and director emeritus of the European Union Center, one of the ten academic research centers at the time established by the European Commission in the United States. As administrator, he managed institutional advancement programs at Purdue University and University of South Florida.

Steven C. Beering was President Emeritus of Purdue University and gave the inaugural address at the Inaugural Convocation of Harold G. Jeffcoat. Beering received his B.S., M.D., and Sc.D. degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and spent more than 12 years in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps. During his military career, he served as an advisor to the U.S. surgeon general in internal medicince and was a medical consultant on the U.S. space program's early attempts to put humans in orbit.
Before his time at Purdue, he served as Dean of Medicine and Director of the Indiana University Medical Center. He became the 9th President of Purdue University in 1983 and served until 2000.
