Jake B. Schrum

1991-2000

Jake B. Schrum served as 17th President of Texas Wesleyan University from 1991-2000. His inauguration was held on April 24 1992 and former United States President Jimmy Carter was the keynote speaker.

Schrum received his Bachelors in Psychology from Southwestern University, a Masters in Divinity from Yale University Divinity School. In addition to these degrees he attended Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University from 1968-1970 and completed Harvard University's Institute of Educational Management in 1983.

Prior to his presidency, Schrum served as Vice President of Texas Wesleyan University (then Texas Wesleyan College) from 1978 to 1982 and as Vice President of Development/Planning at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to Emory, he was Vice President of University Relations at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas; Director of Development at Muhlenberg, Pennsylvania; and a development officer at Yale School of Divinity. 

Inaugural activites included the dedication of the Law Sone Center for the Arts, a Country & Western Dance, and a reception. A majority of the photographs in this digital exhibit were taken by Sarge Hill and, possibly, Sheila Holder.
